Latex Care

This is a simple guide to help you care for your latex garments!

All items from Penny Plane are sent matt and covered in talcum powder. This is prevent the garment from sticking to itself as it folded to post.
You can choose to wear your latex like this, but for the shiny effect, you will need to use a silicone based polish or spray. Before applying the polish, it is advised to wash the garment first as described below.

When you put on your new garment for the first time, it will be lightly talced inside which will help reduce friction. If you need to, you can use more talc or you can also use a latex dressing aid which will help you slide into the garment.
Beware of wearing latex items with long nails as you can tear the rubber. Also be wary of metallic jewellery on rubber as it can stain and discolour the latex.

To wash your latex garment, you can use a little washing up liquid in warm water, and gently wipe any stains with your hands, as you would a regular delicate handwash item and rinse with warm water to remove any excess soap. Hang your garment to drip dry and then talc the inside and polish the outside. Polishing the outside keeps the rubber moisturised, and prolongs the life of your garment.

Latex is not heat friendly and discolours in sunlight. Store your latex in a dark and cool cupboard/wardrobe, preferably hanging to avoid creasing.
